I have dreamy memories of snacking on Aldi frozen mango while watching Call the Midwife with my mom in high school. Go Aldi, lol.

So many thought-provoking links! But just commenting to say that I really love the Still Life with Onions painting. I always love an icon in the kitchen. And it reminds me of Rumer Godden's absolutely wonderful children's book 'The Kitchen Madonna'. Plus, I really really love onions 🤣

Haha — I did try to make an artistic transition from the piece above and below, and I think the onion/pottery/icon painting really nailed it. ;)

A beautiful review of Julie Lane-Gay’s book. As someone who grew up in a non-liturgical tradition I’ve found myself becoming a deeply liturgical nerd, it’s been a fresh drink of water to me too. Sounds like a lovely book to read to get wisdom on utilizing the Book of Common Prayer, thanks for sharing!

And the article on the need for Protestant ethicists is definitely getting bookmarked, so glad that’s getting highlighted.

Glad you included Kaid Benfield here. I used follow him closely back when he wrote for The Atlantic Cities. It's been a minute since I've read him though, but I always appreciate his perspective.

Thanks to Addison Del Mastro for that one. He seems like a sharp and honest guy.

Love the final trio of essays! I can't believe the Amish piece was published 25 years ago?! It reads like something published today.

I was also particularly delighted by the piece on decanters - I DO enjoy drinking coffee more when I put the full carafe on the table.

I thought the last trio was a good combo! Glad you liked them. (Didn’t see that Amish piece was so old until after starting to read it, and was kinda shocked at the publication date, too.)
