And I enjoyed reading through Freya's piece and your accompaniments... pieces like these make me feel like my micro-generation was on the last boat out, in a way. I recognize all these problems and warning signs from my young adulthood, but the world wasn't nearly as polarized (or at least, not openly so) and situations weren't as devastating.
For sure - I believe we're not too far apart in age? In which case, this rings true. I see in hindsight the Millennials growing up *alongside* internet/tech and related social issues which were rising in tandem.
But for those who didn't grow up along with the issues but rather *after* the height of their dominance and devastation, never knowing anything else... it's certainly another beast entirely.
100%! Even though I was on social media as a teen, I could only access it via the family computer in a common area, and I didn't have a smartphone. The potential for influence/harm was so limited compared to the omnipresence and impact young people feel today.
So many good and thought-provoking links! Thank you for sharing my booklist :) I hope you're getting to snatch some rest here and there!
Congrats on your newest family addition!
