I'm back to comment, because I looked more closely at the post and noticed The Tent. So now I get to thank you for that poem!
"is this how the Lord shows kindness?
full of himself
but also
full of good things
given when we need them?"
So many times have I experienced this, and so many times have I been surprised at how little I expected it. Thank you for the little glimpse of youthful happiness in a newlywed living room. That must be a sweet memory to look back on!
Ohh this was beautiful. Thank you for sharing your work, Haley!
I'm slowly working on a post about Diary of a Country Priest and I've been just mentally soaking in so much of the text lately. Your words reminded me of these two quotes from it:
"each creature is alone in his distress…And yet I feel that such distress, distress that has forgotten even its own name, that has ceased to reason or to hope, that lays its tortured head at random, will awaken one day on the shoulder of Jesus Christ”
“I believe that ever since his fall, man's condition is such that neither around him or within him can he perceive anything, except in the form of agony.”
Also, I am here for more of these poetry and related pairings!
Has a garment to be touched…. Beautiful hope, Haley.
Haley, your poem is absolutely beautiful.
A lovely poem.

Thank you for your poem, Haley.
A beautiful poem. A timely reminder. Our hope is here and coming, too! Thank you, Hailey.
Glorious. I’ve read it twice, slowly, and it will be my morning meditation tomorrow.
So lovely.
Beautiful, Haley.

"even darkness is not dark to you
even locusts cannot ravage all"
Stunning, friend.
This was so beautiful! I love how you wove so much of scripture together. These lines really struck me:
those who thrash against
and wrestle in distress
they are close enough
for nearness
Well done for putting your words out there.
Congratulations, Haley!
My favorite part:
we are creatures
sustained by the person
who, wrestled with
has a garment to be touched
eyes to be seen
warmth to be felt
strength to be known
